Saleculator PDA is the compact, primarily portrait edition for order taking and billing. It shares POS sales behavior and the Saleculator database, while offering a smaller set of screens.
Choose the correct package #
For a supported Windows device, download the Saleculator PDA Windows installer from Downloads. Installers for POS and PDA are separate. PDA is a desktop application; the Android Waiter APK is a different product.
Set up PDA #
- Back up an existing installation before updating it. Install the PDA package and start its PDA shortcut.
- In the database setup, connect to the intended Saleculator database. For shared restaurant work, use the same database as POS and Webin. A separate application folder does not create a separate database.
- Activate with a PDA licence supplied for that device. PDA and POS use different activation types; a POS licence or the POS trial flow is not a PDA activation method.
- Sign in with your staff PIN. Your role determines which sales actions are permitted.
- Check the table/floor setup and menu. Configure receipt and kitchen printers in the PDA device’s own settings, then test the paper output.
Use the portrait sales screen #
The ticket and totals stay above the Catalog and Keyboard tabs. Use the catalog to select items or the keyboard to enter codes. Review quantities, notes and totals before sending a KOT or taking payment.
- Open Sales and choose the appropriate table or sales mode for the restaurant.
- Add items and make permitted changes. Send kitchen orders using the configured KOT action.
- When the customer is ready, review the bill, use the payment screen and complete the sale.
- Print or preview the receipt and confirm the sale was recorded. Use Edit Sales only for actions allowed by your role.
Unlike the Android waiter app’s Request Bill action, PDA can complete billing and payment through the shared POS sales workflow. Payment methods and integrations depend on the configured installation.
Available screens and settings #
PDA provides Sales, Edit Sales, configuration, printer setup, password change and exit. Inventory, purchasing, reports, administration and settlement are outside the PDA module set. Use the full POS or an authorized Webin page for the relevant management work.
PDA configuration includes Database, General, Peripherals, Locale and Payment. Role restrictions still apply. Changing a user’s role or the shared database menu does not turn PDA into the full POS edition.
Change orientation #
Open Configuration > General, choose Portrait or Landscape, save and restart the application. This changes the sales layout; operating-system screen rotation is configured separately.
Before live use #
Test a small sale, KOT, receipt, permitted edit and payment on the actual device. If sharing a database, confirm that the same order is visible at the intended cashier. Install paired POS/PDA updates from the same release. Do not overwrite the existing restaurant database when preparing a test device.
